About Resistance Box

Resistance Box

Specification of Resistance Box:

Resistance Box  is a superior quality Heavy Brass Metal Blocks Size 7/16" are bound to Bakelite Plate by means of nuts and screws securing rigid fixation and eliminating any chance of contact error creping due to loosening of plugs and lugs which are cut to fine taper and are interchangeable. Plug heads are machine moulded, of heavy insulated Bakelite in beautiful shapes. The boxes are made of Teak-wood and nicely polished.

Great care is taken in preparing the wire wound resistance. Selected double Covered Eureka Wire is wound in Bakelite spools. Sufficient ageing and Heat Treatment is processed through to avoid any moisture effects. Solder Joints are sealed after calibration. The Decade Resistance Box is calibrated on imported Testing Bridge Accuracy ± 0.1%.

Precision and Versatility

This resistance box enables precise adjustment of resistance for electrical measurements, thanks to its multi-dial system with step values ranging from 1 Ohm to 1000 Ohms. Whether you require single or incremental resistance settings, the robust construction ensures consistent performance during laboratory testing or calibration tasks.

Durability and Safety

Constructed from high-grade Bakelite and brass, the box offers excellent durability, scratch-resistance, and temperature tolerance up to 70C. High insulation resistance (>10 M) and sturdy ceramic base safeguard users during educational and professional applications, making it reliable for long-term use.

Ease of Operation and Connectivity

Equipped with manual rotary knobs, detachable terminals, and two terminal posts, users find setup straightforward. Its portable rectangular design and moderate weight (approx. 1.3 kg) make it convenient for moving between lab stations or field use, supporting up to 250V AC/DC without requiring external power.

FAQs of Resistance Box:

Q: How do I select a resistance value on this box?

A: Choose the desired resistance by rotating the manual rotary knobs. Each dial corresponds to a step value (1, 10, 100, or 1000 Ohms), allowing you to combine them for precise resistance settings ranging from 1 Ohm to 10,000 Ohms.

Q: What are the primary applications of this resistance box?

A: It is used for calibration, laboratory testing, electrical measurements, and educational demonstrations. Its broad resistance range and accuracy make it ideal for scientific, technical, and classroom environments.

Q: When is high insulation resistance beneficial for laboratory work?

A: High insulation resistance (>10 M) ensures minimal leakage currents and protects measurement integrity, especially during sensitive tests or when operating with voltages up to 250V AC/DC.

Q: Where can this resistance box be mounted or used?

A: Designed for desktop use and portability, it is suitable for laboratory benches, classrooms, fieldwork, and educational workshops, supporting various professional and academic requirements.

Q: What materials are used in the construction of the resistance box?

A: It is built with a scratch-resistant black Bakelite body, brass contacts and terminals, and a ceramic base. These materials provide strength, low contact resistance, and safety during operation.

Q: How does this resistance box benefit calibration processes?

A: Its multiple dials and accurate resistance values (1% per setting) allow precise reference resistance for calibration of meters, instruments, and educational kits, ensuring measurements are trustworthy.

Q: Is any external power required for operation?

A: No external power source is needed. The resistance box is a passive device, functioning solely through mechanical adjustment of the manual rotary knobs.
