About MEASUREMENT OF LEVEL BY CAPACITANCE METHOD APPARATUS
Specification:
MEASUREMENT OF LEVEL BY CAPACITANCE METHOD APPARATUS
The present set-up is designed to study the working principle and calibration procedure of capacitance type level transmitter.
The set-up consists of a probe which is mounted in a level tank with graduated scale.
Water is poured in the level tank manually and response of the level transmitter is indicated on the Level Indicator.
Output of the transmitter can be measured using Digital Current meter.
A drain valve is provided at the bottom of the level tank which enables the student to observe and measure the response of capacitance type level transmitter at different liquid heights.
The set-up is complete with Level tank, level transmitter, current indicator and necessary piping.
All component and accessories are properly mounted on the rigid MS structure and fitted on a base plate to form at able top set-up.

FAQs of MEASUREMENT OF LEVEL BY CAPACITANCE METHOD APPARATUS:
Q: How does the capacitance method apparatus measure liquid levels?
A: The apparatus uses a rod-type stainless steel electrode to form a capacitor with the liquid and tank wall, where changes in level cause variations in capacitance. These changes are processed and converted into precise level readings, shown on the digital display.
Q: What types of fluids and tanks are compatible with this measurement system?
A: This equipment is designed for water and non-corrosive conductive liquids. It is compatible with tanks made from plastic, glass, or stainless steel, offering flexibility for diverse engineering setups.
Q: When should I perform the calibration, and how is it done?
A: Calibration should be done before initial use and whenever you change fluid types or tank configurations. The apparatus supports multi-point manual calibration, which involves adjusting reference points while filling the tank to specific levels, following the provided manual.
Q: Where can this apparatus be mounted or installed?
A: It can be mounted either on a bench-top or directly into a panel, allowing integration in laboratories, pilot plants, or industrial control rooms, depending on your setup and application needs.
Q: What is the process for using this level measurement device in a test setup?
A: Install the probe at the desired location, connect it to the apparatus, and fill the tank with the test liquid. Power on the device, perform calibration if required, and monitor level changes on the digital display, aided by audio/visual indicators for real-time alerts.
Q: What benefits does this system offer over other level measurement techniques?
A: Capacitance-based level measurement provides high accuracy (1% FS), fast response (<1 second), and works through non-contact means with no moving parts. This minimizes maintenance and is ideal for semi-automatic, reliably monitored testing environments.
Q: How do the audio/visual alerts improve operational safety and monitoring?
A: Built-in audio and LED visual indicators instantly notify users of critical events, helping prevent overfilling or equipment damage, and ensuring timely response during testing procedures.
