About Friability Test Apparatus
Friability Test Apparatus
Specifications of Friability Test Apparatus
Used to determine the durability and abrasivness of tablets. A transparent perpex drum (made of imported perspex sheet 6.4mm thick ) 300mm dia x 35mm deep and white cover disc and nut, also a shaped radial fixed blade which carries the tablets along with it up to the central height and lets them off while the drum is rotating. Thus the tablets rub against each other without any hard impact. The drum rotates at a fixed speed of 30 RPM by a geared motor and the rotation period is controlled by a timer (imported time switch duration of 1 to 15 minutes) per determined end preset. The motor unit is housed in a shaped steel cabinet with shaft extended on one side upon which the drum rotates. Switches with neon indicators and time switch are fitted on a panel and provided work on 220 Volts 50 C/s AC. Digital models also available.
Efficient Dual Drum DesignFeaturing two transparent acrylic drums, this apparatus enables simultaneous friability testing of up to 200 tablets, optimizing operational efficiency. Its robust stainless steel body and direct drive motor ensure extended durability and consistent performance, even during repetitive testing cycles. The adjustable 25 RPM speed and programmable timer cater to diverse sample requirements, making it a versatile choice for laboratories.
Unmatched Precision and SafetyThe apparatus is equipped with manual and automatic calibration modes, guaranteeing reliable measurements with an accuracy of 0.1 RPM. Critical safety mechanisms such as auto-stop and overload protection minimize operational risks and protect both users and samples. The low-noise drive system also ensures a quiet laboratory environment while testing.
Comprehensive Compliance and Ease of UseAdhering to major pharmacopeial standards (IP/USP/EP/BP), the friability tester is ideal for quality control and research labs. The digital LED display offers clear, real-time data tracking, while user-friendly controls and continuous or programmable operation modes simplify test setup. Supplied in sturdy corrugated packaging, its easy to install and maintain.
FAQs of Friability Test Apparatus :
Q: How does the Friability Test Apparatus assess tablet abrasion and resistance?
A: The apparatus subjects tablets within acrylic drums to controlled rotation at adjustable speeds (up to 25 RPM), tumbling them repeatedly to simulate handling and shipment stresses. The degree of tablet weight loss after testing reflects their friability and mechanical strength, assisting in quality control and formulation optimization.
Q: What are the key benefits of using a two-drum system in this apparatus?
A: With two drums, the device allows simultaneous testing of different tablet samples or batch replicates, saving valuable time and improving throughput. Each drum can hold up to 100 tablets, ensuring comprehensive assessments and efficient laboratory workflows.
Q: When should laboratories calibrate the Friability Test Apparatus?
A: Calibration should be performed regularly, following the manufacturers guidelines or prior to critical testing batches. The unit offers both manual and auto calibration features to maintain accuracy, thereby ensuring test results remain within acceptable tolerances.
Q: Where is this Friability Test Apparatus most suitable for deployment?
A: Designed for laboratories, research institutes, and pharmaceutical quality control departments, this apparatus is ideal wherever precise tablet friability and abrasion testing are required, whether in manufacturing facilities or academic and industrial research settings.
Q: What is the typical process for conducting a friability test with this device?
A: Place the required number of tablets (up to 100 per drum) into the acrylic drums, set the rotation speed and test duration on the digital LED display, and start the test. After completion, weigh the tablets to determine weight loss, which indicates friability.
Q: How do safety features like auto-stop and overload protection benefit users?
A: Auto-stop halts the test upon completion or if a fault occurs, preventing equipment or sample damage. Overload protection safeguards the apparatus from excessive loads, enhancing safety for operators and minimizing the risk of mechanical failure.
Q: What standards does this friability tester comply with, and why is compliance important?
A: The apparatus complies with IP, USP, EP, and BP pharmacopeial standards, ensuring that test results are globally recognized and accepted in regulatory submissions and quality assurance protocols.
