About Demountable Mechanical Strain Gauge

Demountable Mechanical Strain Gauge

It is used for finding out the linear deformation caused on two reference points fixed on a loading member.

Specification :

This portable gauge is designed for a gauge length of 20 cm. of the reference pins. The deformation is indicated by a 0.002 x 5 mm dial gauge attached to the instrument. Complete with two standard bars for 20 cm gauge length supplied in a wooden case.

Accessories : Reference pins in packet of 100 nos. at an extra cost.

Precision Strain Measurement for Civil Engineering

With a measurement capacity ranging from 200 to 5000 microstrain, this gauge offers reliable, direct mechanical strain readings. Its analog dial indicator provides precise strain values, making it indispensable for structural health assessments in concrete and metal components.

Robust Design and Superior Portability

Manufactured from premium stainless steel and high-grade aluminum, the gauge ensures resilience in various settings. Weighing approximately 250 grams and supplied with a protective storage case, it is easily transportable for on-site and laboratory applications.

User-Friendly Mounting and Operation

The demountable design, complete with included fixtures and clamps, simplifies installation and removal. Manual operation means no batteries or electrical supply are needed. Surface preparation is required to ensure accurate, repeatable results during each measurement.

FAQs of Demountable Mechanical Strain Gauge:

Q: How is the Demountable Mechanical Strain Gauge installed on structural materials?

A: The gauge is mounted using the supplied fixtures and clamps. Proper surface preparation is necessary to guarantee secure placement and precise strain measurements. Its demountable nature allows for quick setup and removal as testing needs change.

Q: What applications are suited for this strain gauge?

A: It is tailored for measuring strain in concrete, steel, rock, and similar structural materials, making it suitable for laboratory research, field site evaluations, and civil engineering quality assurance.

Q: When should the strain gauge be recalibrated?

A: Although factory calibrated for immediate use, recalibration is advisable after extensive use, following storage, or if there is any sign of measurement drift to maintain accuracy within 1 microstrain.

Q: Where can the device be used considering its temperature limits?

A: The gauge performs optimally in environments ranging from 0C to 50C, making it effective for most laboratory and site conditions in civil engineering projects.

Q: What is the process for reading strain values with this gauge?

A: After securely mounting the gauge on the prepared surface, strain values are read directly from the analog dial indicator. No electronic components or external power sources are required, ensuring straightforward operation.

Q: How does the provided storage case benefit users?

A: The storage case protects the gauge during transportation and storage, preserving its precision and longevity, which is especially valuable for professionals moving between laboratory and field test locations.

Q: What advantages does this mechanical strain gauge offer compared to electronic alternatives?

A: Its mechanical operation ensures reliability without dependence on power sources, provides immediate analog readings, and offers robust, reusable design features ideal for diverse civil engineering environments.
