The present set-up is designed tostudy the characteristics of a filter column. It consists of a column filledwith packing to ensure the good water distribution.

20 Slotted pressure tapings aremounted on the column for measuring the pressure drop across the bed per unitlength.

These tapings are connected to adifferential manometer.

These tapings can also be used fordrawing the samples from the column and change in concentration of thesuspension can be determined.

The unit is complete with 2 Nos. offeed tanks.

A centrifugal pump is provided tocirculate the water through the column.

Water supplied to the column isregulated and controlled by rotameter.
