About CYCLONE SEPARATION APPARATUS
Specification:
CYCLONE SEPARATION APPARATUS
A Cyclone Separator is a verticalcylinder with the inlet stream introduced tangentially near the top, giving thesuspension a spinning rotation in the cylinder. The centrifugal force acting onthe particles tends to throw them radically to the sides of the cylinder asthey spiral downward to a conical bottom where they are removed.
A collector is fitted at the bottom& the induced draft blower is used to create the air stream.
The classified air leaves the cyclonethrough a pipe extended down into the cyclone & passes through blowerdelivery side fitted with fine screen cloth bag to avoid dust expansion in thelaboratory.
The setup consists of I.D. blowerconnected to discharge side of Cyclone Separator. A flow meter with manometeris provided to measure the flow rate of air. Pressure drop in the Cyclone ismeasured by water manometer. Solids are collected in the collector fixed at thebottom. The set-up is complete with flow Control & by-pass valve.

FAQs of CYCLONE SEPARATION APPARATUS:
Q: How does the Cyclone Separation Apparatus work?
A: The apparatus functions on the principle of centrifugal force-assisted solid-gas separation. As the air-solid mixture enters the cyclone chamber, the rapid circular motion generates centrifugal force, causing heavier solid particles to move outwards and separate from the air stream, which is then collected in the collecting chamber.
Q: What types of materials can be tested using this apparatus?
A: You can test a variety of granular solids such as sand, fly ash, and saw dust. The design is tailored for laboratory experiments involving solid-gas mixtures with these types of particulate matter.
Q: When is it appropriate to use the Cyclone-SEP-01 in educational settings?
A: This equipment is ideal for use in mechanical engineering laboratory classes, especially when the goal is to demonstrate or measure the efficiency of particle collection and solid-gas separation via centrifugal methods.
Q: Where should the Cyclone Separation Apparatus be installed?
A: It is suitable for both benchtop and free-standing installation, offering flexibility for different laboratory layouts. Its approximate dimensions are 1000mm x 450mm x 1200mm, and it weighs about 30 kg, ensuring stability during operation.
Q: What is the process for setting up and using the apparatus?
A: Begin by connecting to a 220V AC power source, and ensure the dust feeding arrangement is filled with your target test material. Adjust the flow rate using the control valves, and monitor the separation process through the transparent chamber and analog display. The apparatus is operated manually for effective demonstration and real-time observation.
Q: How does this apparatus contribute to laboratory safety?
A: Safety is enhanced with built-in overload protection, enclosed wiring, and a sturdy, powder-coated mild steel frame. These features help prevent accidental hazards during operation and ensure long-term durability.
Q: What are the main benefits of using the Cyclone Separation Apparatus?
A: The primary advantages include high separation accuracy, clear visual demonstration of particle separation, versatility in testing various granular materials, and robust safety features. It serves as an invaluable tool for teaching solid-gas separation principles and for conducting performance measurements in educational labs.
